We met up with Misha, our host, guide, and friend, and got onto a flight from Moscow to Ulan-Ude. An overnight 8 hour of flight, and 5 time zones later, we landed in Ulan-Ude. Misha’s father was there to pick us up and drive us around. We visited Misha’s grandmother for lunch, did some landscape sight-seeing, some touring of Ulan-Ude by foot, and settled into our hostel for the night. We stretched out and got some rest in preparation for the next day’s 5 hour road trip to the trailhead.
